This is my second draft. I left colors, but I used them differently. I deleted color corners and I did frme instead. I also deleted one picture and left only one.

This is my first draft for music magazine contents page. I used same colors as on the cover page. I left white background because I think there is no need to change it, I can work better with it, and it look nice. The biggest title pointing out to New Gentlemen has the same color as at the cover, and the other titles have the same color as masthead. Pages are red, so it is highlight a little bit. In the two corners are pink-yellow-orange squares, matching with titles.

third draft. I didn't crop the picture and change the background, I left it original, because I think it looks better. I edited picture, it is beige a little bit. I choose light orange and expressive red-pink color for more important titles. I think these colors harmonize together. Title about Katy and Adele is whitem, so it can be seen good at the black background of Cameron's pullover.

This is my second draft. I changed background and photo, but I keep the colours. In next draft I will probably edit the pciture, somehow.

First draft

So this is my first draft of music magazine. Cameron is holding an ukulele, and he is a famous pop star. As a background I have skies because I din't find anything better but I'll certainly change it. I''ll also change a photo of Cameron, I want use some special effects. I also have to take another photo without a school uniform.

Image plan

At my music magazine cover will be a band composed of two or one singer. I haven't though about the name yet. My models will be Jak Kerr and Cameron Tub, maube just one of them. Picture will be taken at the school land,but I'll change the background which will probably nautre or recording studio or a home surrouding. I want them to look at the camera for the cover, but the others pictures can be taken in action, which means some moving, for example jumping, running etc. They will probably wear school uniforms.. I hope I can borrow some music instruments, so either both of them can play , or one will play and one sing. I can also implement both, and decide what's gonna be at the cover later. The rest should be in the interview or whatever. I'll try to do as many as possible photos of varuous version corncern as many as possible ways. Position of the text depend of the final photo. I certainly will edit the photos, firstly I like it, and secodly it will give the photo some special look.

I made a few possible layouts for my school music magazine. Ihesitate between first and second layout, because at the first layout I like the short name of magazine and it look extraordinary. But at the second layout I like the pictures of interview placed at the side, and I alson think there is more space. I will probably do the second layout.

Evaluation

On my magazine cover there are two students, smiling. I took this picture in school. Because I don’t like Fireworks program, I used program Picassa at my personal computer. It has only one special effect-different colours, because it doesn’t look ordinary, but it doesn’t look overdecorated at the same time. Colours of masthead and titles has similar type of colour, so it harmonize together. I use light blue, yellow, and white colour. Masthead is on the beige background, so I didn’t need to accentuate it more than is it now. The main title has yellow colour, but it isn’t more visible than masthead. There is no too much space for titles, because I took the photo from bad angle, but I fit three titles in there. One of them is awry, just because of lack of space, but It give some special thing to a magazine at the same time. At the bottom of the page is school logo, small, but still visible enough. I made three draft of magazine covers. The first one was my first try, so it wasn’t what I really expected, and the second one was too shiny. I think that the third one is ,,the golden mean’’.

Contents page I have two draft of my contents page. Both of them are made with program for painting and Picassa. At the first one are four stripes, yellow, green, blue and orange. It look like painted wall. Individual articles are separated to the sections, and superscribed with ,,Fun and Relax’’ and ,,Information’’. I don’t like this one, because there are not number of pages, and I can’t change it anymore. There is also big notice about Halloween bonus. I put there a picture of my friend, who has JOKER make-up on his face. The second draft also look like a wall, but I coloured it with only one colour-yellow. Articles aren’t separated to sections anymore. I’m not very creative, so It’s not so good, but It’s enough.

This lesson I tried another version of my cover. I cut off a part of picture and change the background. I also move a picture more to the left side, so there is moe space for titles. At home I will finish Masthead and titles.

Semiotics of image

The semiotics of images is the literal meaning of the purpose (denotation) and what you perceive it to be (connotation). Image should ,,speak'' to a people, and capture him. Because it will be a school magazine, on my cover will be two students in uniforms, laughing, and one of them do a funny gesture. It show that school is not only about learning, but we can also have a fun.

On my cover magazine are two students from our school. They are laughing. One of them is looking to the camera, and the second one is looking away. At the background will be part of classroom, as a natural part of school, or I'll do some colour background, I didn't decide yet. I took the the photo from eyeline, because there is one gesture, and it wouldn't be seen frmo another angle. They are wearing school uniforms with ties, one of them wear glasses. Headline will be Learn for Life, because we learn in school. The photo will be in the middle, and where will be a space, there will be a title. At the bottom of the page will be school logo. I won't use any special effect, except the background, maybe.

Genre Conventions

I think, that genre conventions is a tzpical trope of plot, character, icon, or in case of magazine, theme, or effect. Interesting is, that similiar form has alwazs magazines, which write about same topics. For example, fashion magazines have big masthead at the top of site, on the picture is alwazs fashion icon or actress, and headlines are alwayz placed at the same place. Lots of student copz it at their school magazines, I did it too. It's easy, and there is no mess in it. But I noticed, that some students made very chaotic covers. In some cases thez arranged it verz well, so it look cool. But at some covers were such a mess, that some words I couldn't read, because it was unsiutablz placed, or used the wrong colour.

Semiotics and school Magazine names

Semiotics are the literal meaning of my magazine names ‘denotation’and the explanation behind what these names mean is the ‘connotation’. Here are few of my ideas. Rockstar- Simple name, nothing special. It relates with music, so...

BHS puzzles-BHS for Biddulph High School, and puzzles because they are at the logo of school.

Staff. News-Staff for Staffordshire, and staff as a things. News, because the school magazine should print new from the music world.

BHS Stars-I decided for name BHS Stars. BHS for Bidullph High School Stars. Because it is a music magazine, and that's what the magazine will write about.

Layouts

A few layouts for my school  magazine...

Masthead is awry, because it is unusual. School logo is in the corner, because it is not so important as Masthead{but it is important, of course} Main title should be noticeable, so I put it in the left upper corner. The rest of site fill titles of another artictle. 

At this layout, I put Masthead to the down part of site. Photo or picture doesn't take whole page, so there is more space for titles. Main title is again in left upper corner, and below are another titles. School logo is located in left upper corner, above the main title.

Third layout is almost same as the first one. But Masthead isn't awry, but is typically on a top of site. School logo is again in the right corner. Lots of space occupy main title.

So, we are making School Music Magazine..The name of my magazine will be BHS Stars.. As Bdullph High School Stars. Because it is a music magazine, and who is making music? Stars. Yop, that's right...
